Seasoned criminal defense attorney Arthur Jay Weiss is defending Sterling Heights police officer James Sribniak against charges he and fellow police officer Jack Currie allegedly ordered a police dog to bite a suspect on the ground following a vehicle and foot pursuit. Body camera video was captured by several officers on the scene of the alleged assault.
Testimony from Sterling Heights police officer Lt. Jason Bisdorf, who conducted an internal investigation, disclosed that the suspect Gary Young’s blood alcohol level measured more than twice the legal limit and the 13 mile chase crossed several jurisdictions, through red lights. Thereafter, Young resisted arrest and Bisdorf described his behavior transitioning from passive to active aggressive, which could justify the use of the canine intervention.
