Attorney Arthur J. Weiss Explains Richmond Police Chief’s Acquittal On Police Network Misconduct Charge

As attorney Arthur J. Weiss calls it, Richmond Police Chief Thomas Costello’s “nightmare of a year and a half is over.” Costello was accused of using the police-only computer network, LEIN, to retrieve non-public information without probable cause.

“There was no indication he violated the statute,” Weiss said. “It’s clear that Chief Costello, there was no personal use or gain, he got absolutely nothing out of it. The information went from one certified LEIN operator to another certified LEIN operator.”
